Procurement

Position: Senior Procurement Consultant

Reports to:
Director and/or General Manager, Beijing Axis Procurement

Working Location:
Beijing

 

Summary:

  • Responsible for the overall management and delivery of procurement advisory projects of TBA Procurement
  • Senior Procurement Consultant works as a team member along with TBA procurement team, Asia/China suppliers and third party service providers (e.g. inspection, logistics, etc.) and has the overall responsibility to drive the project to completion

Job Description:

  • Owns and executes the procurement advisory projects according to The Beijing Axis Procurement methodology (e.g. commodity strategies, spend analysis, supply base analysis, supplier appraisal, etc.)
  • Serves as the main driver of client relationships and project communication
  • Manages the budget, timeline, resources and scope
  • Produces a detailed project plan to match customer requirements
  • Creates status reports and change requests in coordination with sales team
  • Shares procurement best practices and consulting to clients throughout the duration of the project
  • Produces a weekly status report documenting project health and progress
  • Leads internal project team meetings and meetings with the customer
  • Participates in internal projects, as required
  • Provides active support in defining value proposition and drafting proposals that are able to match client requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree or above in business or related major. MBA or post-graduate qualification is preferred
  • Minimum three years of work experience in Asia/China, either in procurement, supply chain or management consulting roles
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience in people management, strategic planning and risk management
  • Ability to work in teams with colleagues from diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Fluent (verbal and written) in English, Mandarin speaking ability preferred

Job Description:

  • Develops and executes strategy project work plans, and revises as appropriate to meet client’s business needs and requirements
  • Leads project planning, hypothesis formulation, research, analysis, synthesis and report construction process
  • Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities to project team
  • Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope
  • Ongoing client liaison
  • Reviews deliverables prepared by project team to ensure client-readiness of outputs
  • Effectively applies Beijing Axis Strategy project methodology and enforces project standards
  • Formulates and implements recommendations and business solutions
  • Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures
  • Leads and manages those within the team, including consultants, researchers and analysts

Job Description:

          • Perform desk research in the fields of business and economics i.e. trade, investment, government policy, etc
          • Track and analyze trends (in various business areas including, but limited to, the Chinese mining and resources sector; industrial and engineering sectors; trade and investment relations between China and Africa, Australia, Latin America and Russia; China’s OFDI and M&A; government regulations; etc.)
          • Process, analyze, interpret and present relevant data in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other relevant software for external as well as internal projects
          • Cross-check data presented in project documentation ensuring that the information presented is accurate and fully reliable
          • Support other team members on client assignments
          • Assist in relevant business activities including attending business exhibitions as well as facilitating commercial missions for companies, associations and chambers of commerce

Requirements:

      • Excellent academic background, with a business and/or technical degree
      • Minimum 1-2 year experience in an appropriate or related field
      • Attention to detail and fast-learner. Able to work under pressure
